Why Hand-Carved Concrete Instead of Natural Stone

Texas Stone Craft builds patios, retaining walls, water features and outdoor kitchens across Dallas-Fort Worth in hand-carved concrete and GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete). We carve the look of limestone, flagstone, slate or travertine by hand on site, so the pattern never repeats the way a stamp does.

Natural stone looks good on day one. It is porous, and DFW clay shifts and cracks it as the ground moves. Our carving mix is rated up to 4,000 PSI, costs 40-60% less than installed natural stone and has a 50+ year expected lifespan.

Upkeep is lighter as well. Natural stone wants sealing every year, plus mortar repairs or fresh polymeric sand. Carved concrete needs a UV-stable reseal every 3-5 years and a pressure wash now and then, with no loose stones to reset.

Built for North Texas Clay

North Texas sits on expansive clay that swells when it rains and shrinks when it dries. That movement cracks slabs, tilts patios and pushes over walls built without steel. Our retaining walls and other structural work go on a footing with steel rebar, with drainage behind them so water can't build up. Patios and pool decks slope at least 1/4 inch per foot away from the house, with French drains, channel drains or catch basins where the yard needs them.

It starts with a free on-site consultation. You get a written estimate within 48 hours, and we go over the design with you before any work starts. We pull the city permits and handle HOA architectural submissions ourselves, since every city and HOA has its own rules.

During the build we clean the site at the end of every day. We finish with a walkthrough and back the work with a 5-year workmanship warranty. We are fully insured.
